“The surgery was painless, I opted for a little sedation and was in and out in no time, and back the following week for the other eye. The team at the hospital were fantastic, very friendly, and reassuring. There was no pain following the surgery, just a little light sensitivity as my eyes recovered.”

See the world exactly as it wants to be seen
As life goes on, we realise how important the smallest of moments and the tiniest of details really are.
As of today, it’s never been easier to achieve incredible vision with the help of laser eye surgery.Â
The different kinds of laser eye surgery
Not all laser eye surgery is the same. Different types of procedures are administered based on the individual undergoing treatment.
ReLEx SMILE®
The fastest growing laser vision procedure globally, think of it as keyhole LASIK. We were the first to offer this in the South and one of a handful of centres in the UK to provide this service.Â
LASIK
The most frequently performed procedure and the benchmark in laser vision correction. Painless and fast offering rapid recovery and visual freedom.
PRESBYOND®
PRESBYOND is an excellent solution to the natural age-related requirement for reading glasses. Developed exclusively by Carl Zeiss and delivered through LASIK. We are one of only a few laser eye surgeries privileged enough to offer this procedure.Â
LASEK
Normally recommended to patients who have thinner than average corneas or who may be active in certain contact sports. Wavefront technology is used to guide the laser treatment but no flap is created allowing a slightly stronger cornea following treatment.Â
Therapeutic
This procedure includes custom ablation patterns for irregular corneas or PTK for surface irregularities. These laser procedures may benefit patients with congenital disorders of the cornea or those who have undergone previous surgical procedures or trauma.Â

Frequently Asked Questions
Laser vision correction is an affordable option and over the course of optical years often less expensive than wearing contact lenses and spectacles. Our prices are £1,850 per eye for LASIK and ASA / LASEK, £2,200 per eye for ReLEx SMILE® and £2,250 per eye for PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision. Specialist and therapeutic treatments will carry additional charges.Â
Up to 10 months interest free credit is available and longer payment plans are also available to bring the cost down to as little as £50 per month and can be arranged through Nuffield Health.Â
Due to the anaesthetic drops which are applied before the procedure, laser eye surgery itself is generally pain-free.Â
Yes, laser eye surgery is considered one of the safest surgical procedures in the world.
Laser eye surgery is indeed permanent, so you can give up dealing with glasses and contact lenses with one quick, safe surgery.
Typically you will be in the laser suite for around 25 minutes. Creating of the flap in LASIK takes less than 10 seconds, creating of the lenticule in ReLEx SMILE® takes around 25 seconds with the entire procedure for both between 5 to 10 minutes per eye.
In essence, no. As laser eye surgery is performed at the level of the cornea which is the outer coat of the eye and not inside the eye, the treatment is one of the safest eye procedures there are. It is possible to develop an infection following treatment but this risk is widely considered to be far lower than the risk of developing a corneal infection from wearing contact lenses over time and estimated to be around 1:10,000 cases.
Your vision will not be compromised, and your eyes will not be damaged if you blink, cough, sneeze or generally move during Laser Vision Correction. The excimer laser tracks the movement of your eyes and stops treating when your eyes are not aligned perfectly. The femtosecond laser ‘holds’ your eye with gentle vacuum; it is thus very difficult for you to blink or move the eyes during laser treatment. Rarely, 1 in several hundred cases, if movement does occur, we may need to modify the planned treatment or complete the surgery on another day; this will not compromise the health of your eyes or your final visual result.
We offer a wide range of refractive surgery procedures in addition to laser vision correction and will examine all potential solutions with you to find the treatment most suitable for your needs e.g. for very high corrections implantable collamer lens surgery may be more suitable or if cataract is present, cataract surgery may be a better choice. We are usually able to treat the large majority of people and have a wide experience treating people with high corrections and complex eyes but occasionally we will advise you against treatment if it is medically advisable to do so.
We advise you against driving until your first post-treatment review so we can measure your vision and advise you accurately.
We’d like you to avoid eye make-up for 7 days following laser eye surgery, any other face make-up can be worn after 48 hours.
Laser eye surgery can treat short-sightedness, longsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia (the need for reading glasses).
LASIK is the most commonly performed type of laser eye surgery, but the kind of surgery you need will depends on your eyesight/diagnosis.
Your free, initial consultation will take place at The Lido Medical Centre, conveniently located near St Helier.Â
